Well it is a doubled die, not an OMM.

It looks like an over-mintmark to me. I see an S figure within, and looks like it would be the second position of the two known.

From your picture I see, it does not look like a double die. The D/S I see does carry a significant value over the other 1944-D cents between a few tens of dollars to several hundred dollars. Perhaps an 100% acetone soak would help.

Or perhaps this just looks like a D/S but is not.

I don't think there is enough evidence to call it a doubled die. It is circulated which makes the tail of the 9 thick like a class 6 doubled die, but the tip of the tail should also be thicker and I don't see enough of that on your coin to call it a doubled die. The 1 looks curved like you would expect on a class 6 doubled die because the top of the 1 has a hit. The last 4 of the date is common on 1944 coins and not indicative of a doubled die.

It still could be a minor doubled die, but from the picture you can't tell since a normal circulated one and a minor circulated DDO would look very similar. Look for thickness in the the first few letters of LIBERTY, the E of WE, and the R and U of TRUST.

It's not a D/S btw.

Completely agree. This coin is so heavily circulated and beat up, theres no solid evidence. Every part of that date and MM is flattened from years of circulation
