Hi All!

I picked this up at a local market today on a whim - I just found it unusual. I don't know much more about it than what is in the title after some poking around, and was hoping someone (perhaps with a knowledge of Arabic) could help me decipher the inscriptions. Many thanks in advance for any help!

My Arabic is a little rusty, but here's my best shot:

? and ? for basketball

Alexandria area (Egypt)

Young women of high degree (there's probably a better translation, but this is pretty direct)

The first

1953-52

The fancy script of the first line is pretty hard to read in this picture. Could you provide a closer picture of the reverse with better resolution?

OK, I think I've got it. That calligraphy can be a real pain to interpret.

The Egyptian Union for Basketball Egyptian Basketball Federation (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egypt...l_Federation)

Alexandria area

First class young women (Again, there's probably a better way to word this.)

The first (Probably meant as "first annual." Since it doesn't agree in gender with the previous line, it's definitely not part of one sentence.)

1953-52

@noran, I can't help with the translating, but I was hoping to figure out the medalist who created this. I see FUCHS on the obv, but this is too late and seems to be the wrong fabric to be Emil Fuchs. Here is a link to his known works:

but again, not seeing a good match. Also, he seems to have used EF rather than his whole last name on the ones where I can find his signature.

@Numisma - thank you very much for that! Many leads to start off research!

@Spence - that is actually not an 'H,' but rather a 'K' (no, I am not joking ;P ), which has made internet searching *ahem* quite difficult.

I noticed that too. I guess it's just an interesting coincidence, but I got a kick out of it.

Definitely not something to research during lunch on a work computer!
