Please be patient with my terminologies, I'm trying my best to speak your language...lol.

Ok, I Found a 2007 P Dime that has a chip in it...clipped planchet...it also has a super wide rim...broadstrike. Have I got it right so far? Ok, so I thought it was kinda cool and wanted to share it with you. I invite any thoughts you might want to share on its level of coolness and possible value if any.

Thank you for participating.

I see what you're seeing here, but unfortunately it looks like damage to me.

For one thing, does the coin have reeding on the edge? Does the reeding continue in the "clip" as it appears in your picture? If so, it's neither a broadstrike nor a clipped planchet. Reeding is imparted by the collar when the coin is struck, and a broadstrike occurs when the coin is struck outside the collar, hence no reeds. Additionally, when the planchet is clipped, that part of the edge doesn't touch the collar during striking and doesn't get reeded either.
I think your coin just took a hit to the edge that displaced some metal and has also gotten flattened by post-mint damage, hence the broad rim.

If you want to be sure, compare the weight and diameter to a normal coin. A genuine broadstrike on a clipped planchet should be wider and lighter.

Sorry to disappoint. The errors are out there, though, and this is the perfect place to hone your eye for them.

I'm afraid I have to agree. What you have is post mint damage ( PMD). Keep searching!

to the CCF!
