Looking at this 1947 LWE reverse and see distinct doubling in all letters of UNUM, the E in ONE, and the T of CENT. The typical shelving evident of MD does not appear to be the case here as it is raised and rounded. Knowing that there are no listings to be found for 1947 DDR, I am left to conclude that this is either DDD or a new variety, which would not seem likely for a coin that has been around for a while Still getting my feet wet at this so any input would be greatly accepted. Light angle is not a factor as the doubling is evident from any angle. I will be waiting for your opinions.

I see normal sized devices. There is some circulation flattening on them. Flattening is not the same as doubling. Note the spread on the devices and the dots on the EPU. Note the enlarged devices on this monster DDR below: Note the spread differences? On a doubled die, we should see spread on the devices.

So then, this effect is a result of circulation wear? Very deceiving!

I am just curious as to how this differs from the doubling of IGWT on say the 1941 LWC 1941 WDDO-001? This could be quite confusing. The devices are not enlarged but rather exhibit separation. I am trying to wrap my head around this stuff and it can be tough at times.

This looks like Machine Doubling. Notice how that right side of the T, that is doubled, is thinner than the left side that isn't doubled.

Hello Alwayslooking. I feel your pain when it comes to the different type of doubled dies, still learning myself. There are actually many different classes or types of doubling. I'm not an expert on identifying the 8 different classes of doubling but each one exhibits a different look or form dependent upon several factors. One day I'll figure out how to post links on here but if you simply google "classes of hub doubling" or "classes of doubled dies" you should be supplied with a lot of info on the subject. To me, some are harder to spot than others but once you find and see one it will be like "eureka"!!! Hope this helps.

Thanks coop for posting that link! Extremely informative and something I will refer to myself in the future and bookmark (if I can figure out how to do that.....I'm not a computer guy by any stretch of the imagination). Also, thanks for correcting me on the NINE different classes whereas I inadvertently said 8 in my reply. Appreciate it.

When you type in CoopHome on the forum, they turn blue and takes you to many posts with thousands of images on different topics. Then click on that to take you there. Best to see and know, than to try to explain. I try to show you, what I see.
