John1, what are the pros/cons to using acetone to clean it? I'm not super familiar with acetone cleaning.

Yeah, 100% acetone is what I use all the time, it evaporates quickly, and does remove lots of gunky stuff from some coins. I also use a q-tip dunked into acetone to then remove buildup.

Acetone and q-Tips. But do (not )rub to hard that'll cause scratches. Use several q-Tips. It will not get everything off so don't try. Sometimes you can also use a toothpick on certain places but you still need to be careful.
Just a suggestion. Practice on a coin you're not going to keep. Just to see what happens.

I don't think acetone will do anything on zinc rot, which is what your coin has.

Nice! I've been luck enough to find one of these in the wild myself, and it's a thrill!

This was a find, not a buy. Thanks for the info though!

Great find! Quite hard to find in circulation and that's a nice example.

Christian18, Type acetone in the search box, lots of useful info there. A dip might not help your coin much if at all but it can't hurt it either. If it was my find I would give it a short soak and then put it in a 2x2. John1
