The stem on the maple leaf, and the N and A of Canada seem to be errors to me. Any help greatly appreciated.

Not errors. Impossible for this to occur during the minting process. Heavily damaged. It would take a lot of force to displace the metal like that.

Thank you. I don't see any evidence of cut marks in those areas, but I don't know much about coins.

to CCF. You should be able to pry up the displaced metal.

Better pictures but the results are still the same . It is PMD. There is no way that could happen during the striking of the coin so no matter what happened after that, it is damage.

Yes, definitely PMD. Something was thrust or hammered straight up that peeled the left leg of the "A" and the right leg and horizontal bar of the "N" and piled the peeled metal to the top of the "N" and the gap between the 2 letters. It may have happened in normal use or with something like a chisel, as mentioned by nickelsguy

PMD, not only the N & A but also the stem up to A.

It looks convincing, but I suppose the community is correct.

Yes it does look convincing, as if it were struck this way, but there is no way that I can think of anyway, that this could be caused by the striking process of the coin. It would have to occur after the coin is struck and is therefore considered after minting damage, which is just damage. Otherwise, we would all be making our own "errors".

This came out of a batch of old coins my grandmother saved, which I inherited from my father. It looks even more convincing under magnification, but I think Bond632 is correct. I think it's really neat though and will save it in my collection.
