Hello, new here and nice to see such a helpful community. I recently inherited tons of coins, i.e., $10 1921 Gold coin, tons of Eisenhower, Kennedy, tons of silver dollars, one dollar Sacagawea (literally dozens of them), and many more.

We really have no interest in keeping them as we are not collectors but we want to learn about them and the best way to liquidate them so I will be reading posts and trying to glean information about the best way to go about it.

Also literally dozens of boxes of those coins with 50 states and they seem very old.

An interesting one I found is a Hawaii Kingdom 1800's coin. That one is a boozer. Have no idea what it's worth or even if there's any value.

Some of the Silver dollars look huge and I'm wondering what in the world are they used for.

Anyways, thanks and I look forward to chatting with many of you.

to CCF. Post good photos and a detailed question in the appropriate sections of the forum. Also check ebay sold values for an idea on current values.

Soiree: to the CCF!

My basic advice:
Hasten slowly, so that you can learn enough to dispose of the inheritance to your best financial advantage.

I couldn't agree more:-
post some pictures of those coins which you consider the be the most valuable, so that we may be able to give you some idea of their current market value.
One picture at a time, although you can do as many posts as you like.

You have the right idea. If your collection is that big you need to learn what you want to keep and what you would like to unload and the best way to do that. Too many are burnt by being too trusting and moving too quickly. Hope you enjoy your new hobby.

Hey, glad to see another person who stumbled upon some nice stuff :)

Others have said it, but I'll repeat it: many of the nicer coins only appreciate, (as long as they're well-preserved) so don't feel pressured to sell before you get a feel for what you own. We look forward to seeing pictures and hearing stories!

Thanks everyone. So I tried to go through some of the coins. Too much work, literally too much work. Did find some interesting British 1 pound coins though. The work is so daunting I literally gave up and just threw them back into the bag/boxes. I separated some war coins and later (1940s - 1967). We cleared out the safety deposit box at the bank and that is how we found these coins.

Some of the neat ones are the 10 dollar 99 fine silver Las Vegas coins for casinos, some out of business already.

Sigh . . . hope to get some time too sort them out.
