I want to unload some coins, some error, some just old and cool. I plan to sell them for reasonable prices using the method I learned here of searching sold items on ebay and a few other places. Is ebay really the best website though? What do you recommend and what things should I be mindful of as I get started? I know this isn't a question about an error coin per se, but I know this group has A LOT of great knowledge in this area.

Can always try ebay or posting them in the right section here. I think you have enough posts to start a thread there now. I believe its 50 posts, unless it's different now

ebay is a decent solution--warts and all.

If you have higher value coins to sell, you can consider other avenues such as Heritage. However, if you are talking less expensive coins, I don't know of another good method besides ebay. Once you have enough posts/time, this site is also an option. You have fewer eyes looking at it, but no fees.

Selling to dealers at coin shows (if you can get to one) is a good option for coins that are close to bullion value. Shipping and fees will take a big bite out of sales on ebay for these items.

My suggestion is to stay here and accumulate enough posts to qualify to sell here. Best way not to get cheated.

I have bought and sold through here with no issues.
I usually sell my junk silver at the LCS but I'm sure I could get more for it elsewhere....it's just the easiest avenue typically.
