I get Numismatic News. I see production reports in each issue. Specifically production for bags and rolls of current dated quarter and dollar coins. For what purpose do people buy these? Are there collectors that collect these? I think you'd have to hold onto them for about a hundred years to see any appreciation. Am I missing something? Each to their own I guess.

Some folks buy the bags so the can break them open then turn around and sell the quarters (or what ever) individually on ebay at inflated prices.

Dealers primarily. For the Kennedy halves and the latest Innovation Dollars especially as these are not distributed through normal channels, in other words struck only for collectors. As for the other circulating denominations, and dependent on the volume a dealer does, banks are sometimes reluctant to exchange large quantities.

The 2020 American Samoa P&D Mint Quarter roll set cost $34 from the mint they are selling on E-bay if you can find one at $95. That surely is not a hundred years. It just depends I guess.

Those rolls from the mint are not OBW's . They are OMW's ,
( original mint wrapped rolls ) which should be nicer hit wise than bank wraps . OBW collectors who are willing to pay a premium for these rolls will do so . Any questions ?

Some people buy them because they want to get the new coins IMMEDIATELY and not wait for them to show up at the banks. Some buy them because they are hoping to search them hoping to find very high end coins for grading and flipping. Some of the coins , such and the half dollars, dollars and S mint business strike quarters are not made for circulation and the only way to get them is to buy the bags/rolls directly from the mint or from coin dealers.
