Suggest posting a sharp, high resolution photo of the coin's reverse--could help us understand the coin more fully.

To help us help you, always post a clear photo of both sides of the coin.
Also in order that we are not guessing, state exactly what it is you are asking about.

Well, here's what I see from the picture presented:

1. The 'D' MM is filled in * possibly indicating that the center post on the die was broken off, hence not forming the D properly.
2. Lots of damage due to a long history of being in circulation.
3. That bright spot over Lincoln's bow tie could have been formed (made? by something (like a drop of glue) then the coin was discolored due to exposure, heavy circulation and such before the glue (or what ever) was more recently picked off or fell off.

Just my amateur opinion

Just a normal 42 year old circulated LMC. No telling exactly what it has experienced or has seen, like a fly on the wall.

Dearborn gives an excellent theory on one such possibility.

to CCF.

Without knowing if the spot is lower or higher than the surrounding area, it could be as simple as a drop of acidic liquid that fell onto the coin.
