I have several 1972 Kennedy half and two of them are mint Mark D. I got these at different times and places but that both have similar markings on his neck. I have not found anything about this, but cold this be coincidence and both have been defaced? Does anyone know?

The mintmarks were hand punched into the dies until 1990. After that they are part of the design. So the locations are not going to be in the same exact spot on the 1989 back coins.

The two marks on the neck are contact marks from the reeded edge of another half dollar. These two images are clearly from the same coin.

Not sure if you tried to post a pic of 2 different coins to to support your question of coincidence, but the two pics you posted are from the same coin. And the markings on the neck are Not from the mint.
Please post pics of separate coins.
