Hello,

I purchased some Indian copper coins, but the seller had no idea about the coin's origins. I have just started collecting ancient coins and with the vast variety of Indian copper coins, I a not sure where to start with the id's. I have managed to identify a few Kashmir coins (with the help of Paul in this forum) but Can someone please help me identify the rest, or provide some clues on where to look for it? Thank you

Edit: Added approx. weight and diameters.

Edit2: With the help of andyg, I think 4 coins have been id'd correctly. I have added the ids in the post too, for the time being.

Coin 1:
Weight: 10g (rough food scale weight)
Diameter: 21mm
Possible ID: ¼ Anna - Edward VII [Sardar Singh]

Weights to the nearest tenth of a gram and maximum diameters to the nearest mm would help considerably in attribution.

Thanks, I have a food scale, so not sure how accurate it is. Will add all the weights and the diameter in a few minutes.

Yes, coins 1 and 5 do appear to be Jodhpur one-quarter anna, Sardar Singh i.n.o. Edward VII, 1895-1911, similar to this one

Coin 2 appears to be a different Jodhpur one-quarter anna, Sardar Singh i.n.o. Edward VII, 1895-1911, similar to this one

All seem to be listed as J 12 14, though I'm not sure what reference book this refers to, and it seems to me there should be different numbers for different coins.

In further checking in Krause's "South Asian Coins and Paper Money" it appears these may be KM 91.1 and/or 91.2, though photos are not given of either there.

Thanks so much for confirming the coins, Seeker55. I cna now flip the coins in peace. If only I could know what the other 3 coins were.
Many thanks for also mentioning the book "South Asian Coins and Paper Money". Hadn't heard of that, but will look to purchase it (if available in the UK).
