Sap Moderator Australia 16809 Posts	Posted 02/18/2006 02:12 am Looks like a 5000 rouble note to me. 1919 was a chaotic time in Russia, with Imperialists, White Russian republicans and Red Bolsheviks fighing for and controlling various regions. A plethora of notes were issued, many of which are listed in Pick Vol I (specialized issues) rather than the usual Vol. II (Government issues). Collecting Russian notes is a complex field - there's one guy I know at the coin club who collects virtually nothing else! The crownless double-headed eagle on your note makes it a White Russian issue. I found one like it in my copy of Pick Vol.I (7th Ed 1995): South Russia, Armed Forces High Command, SP#419. Four varieties listed, depending on paper colour and watermark pattern, CV $4 to $5 in unc. So mine is worth maybe $2 if I am lucky, I just found it as I was clearing out my cupboards and was going to list on ebay as I don't collect Russian notes. Please remember as I am collector now I am not really set up for international transactions. I am happy to do it for forum members, but can only accept cash hidden in some aluminium foil in a letter.
