Nice examples. Keep those finger prints away.

Fingerprints bad, multiple coins, bad (it's difficult to comment with multiple coins). I have never seen "woodies" with such broad waves. These haven't been cleaned, have they?

Excellent woody coins. Nice eye appeal. Merclover, woodies can come in a large variety of looks, from tight grain to wide grain to spotty to pretty much the whole coin has the brass look. Here is an example I pulled from a bag a couple days ago. Note that it is nearly a 50/50 on one side and nothing on the other. The appeal of a woody is purely in the eye of the beholder, as some look really cool and others just mess up a good coin. I think the more it looks like real wood grain, the more attractive, but others have different opinions.

Quote: The appeal of a woody is purely in the eye of the beholder I agree. Just like toned coins. Everyone's taste is different, that's what makes life exciting.

Thanks. Yeah they were nice finds. Woody is a lot easier than improper alloy mix to type. I posted 2 coins just to brag and show examples. I wasnt looking for feedback on them. As far as finger prints. I wash my hands with a ph balanced soap before right before I handle any coin like that and rinse them with soap and water afterwards. Never had an problem with finger prints and as far as cleaning, just rinsed them with soap and water to get the haze off of them. They were literally sitting in an open tub that has been in my local coin shop for atleast 2 years, uncovered and in the open. But no scrubbing. These stuck out like a sore thumb right when I dumped the bag out. I also found 3 more that were decent examples, but these were the prettiest.

I like woody's cause they are one of a kind and examples are hard to find that really have true woody characteristics that are easily seen with the naked eye. These two are by far my best examples and I just found them after 3+ years of enjoying this hobby. Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder and that's what I love about these finds.
