Im not a collector(yet) so forgive me if this is just nonsense. I came acrossed this dime today and can't come up with any possible explanations.. With minimal research, I figured this forum would be an easier source of info. I will say it again, I'm not a collector.. I have a very broad range of tools with plenty of knowledge of their capabilities. Spare me the silly questions.. Ill try to give you my best description along with photos.

Best description- Roosevelt side is clearly damaged, pictures dont do justice on how smooth this is. Very odd
Non uniform smoothness. I know people get bored.. but this looks like it would take some serious effort to duplicate.. if the reverse side wasnt so perfect id just have tossed it in my sons piggy bank.. if I had to make an uneducated guess, I'd say it was wedged in some sort of machinery with multistage polishing innards that changed position every couple of days... lol. Even if this was made out of boredom or some other poor reason, Ill keep it forever, its the coolest looking coin ive ever seen..Best reply wins a thumbs up emoji.

Unless you were there, you may never know exactly what happened
but it did not happen during the striking of the coin so it is damage.
But as you say , it's cool so it will only cost you ten cents to keep it.

Just a damaged coin. Someone trying to create a mint error. And you found it. Damaged coins are just face value coins. When they get back to the bank, the put in a container to send them back to the mint to be canceled.

Such a special coin needs a special purpose; why not make a wish on it and wish hard on it to make it for someone else's special wish, and throw it in a fountain somewhere!
