Personally, I think it's a coming together of several trends and not for the best
* COVID-19 - I think we're all tired right now, shorter of temper, and less tolerant of the world in general
* Social media in general - I fully admit I'm a minimal user of Instagram, probably a borderline troll at times on Reddit, and a non-user of Facebook. What I have noticed is that almost all of the platforms have removed any ability to dislike something short of blocking the user. If your only quick choices are ignore or like, if you take the time to voice dislike it's usually more biting.
The faster pace of life in general. Easier to snap "
PMD you idiot" than to explain.
The general dislike of being wrong, hurt feelings, and such discussed up thread.
