I have an 1856, what appears to be a Seated Liberty with a fancy D on reverse instead of the word dime. Can't find anything about it. Please help.

You might not find anything exactly like it. The reverse was smoothed and custom engraved long after the coin was minted. These are commonly called "love tokens." If you use those search terms, you will find more examples. The Seated dime seems to have been a common starting point for creating love tokens in the US.

I, too, have a love token but, among the many things I do not know, I do not know if there is a repository of info about these. I bought one and have passed on others that sell for more than melt until I get more educated...

Stay well,

As others said, a love token. Each of these is their own piece of art, made by one person and given to another. That individuality means that there is no official tracking of these things, sort of like Hobo Nickels, whoever wanted to make one could make one. That sets it apart from alterations done in official capacities like Reales being counter-stamped to be a different currency but hold the same silver weight.

The best you'll find online will likely be a gallery of examples, if such a thing exists online. There won't be any official info because each of these often bears one or both initials of a pair of random lovers from some time in history
