Hello everyone

I was thinking this was most likely DDD or MD until I saw the S in Samoa is definitely separated. Is it just extreme MD?

Clint1970, Is that a mold of a the incused lettering? Looks neat. stndCowT, I'm no expert but all of the new quarters that have incused text apparently appear doubled. Much harder to identify that devices that are in relief above the surface. We'll have to let the experts add their Two Cents.

The doubled dies on the States and ATB Quarters are on the central areas of the design. There are not DDRs on this area. why? Because of the devices being incuse, (not raised) the rules for doubling is just the opposite. Machine Doubling increases the device sizes, a doubled die on incuse devices are reduced in size. Actually 70% of these quarters have Machine Doubling on this design. Anywhere from mild, to strong.
