Hi all,

Wanted to hear the community thought on this coin. I pulled this one from a small group of my father's collection that he gifted me. These maybe aren't the greatest pictures so I'm happy to upload more. The coin looks super clean and has been with him since he was a kid living in Poland. Worth grading? I can't figure out how to rotate these here....they are properly oriented on my computer when I upload.

Borderline, but I would not.

You can see on ebay what some slabbed examples sell for in AU. It's a common coin, and you would only be rewarded for your effort if your coin is into the MS grades, which I don't think is the case. On the other hand, the coin was free.

I would put it in a 2x2 and keep it in my collection forever because of its personal significance.
Unless you really like to have slabbed coins in your collection, and then go for it.

As a rule of thumb, a coin needs to be worth $150 or more to be worth grading from a commercial perspective. Current market trends mean that this would have to be an MS-63 or higher to attain those sorts of prices, and (although not having seen it in hand) I don't quite think that this piece will quite reach that level, but it is very close from what I see, so it may.

This being said, I have a few coins in my collection which I certified just because I wanted to keep them, which sounds like the case with this coin. It might be a fun little gamble to send it in - if it comes back 63 or higher, thats a win... if it doesn't, it is still your dad's coin that will be preserved for your family's future generations. Just my thought.
