I vote die gouges. Couldn't be clash marks, nothing on the obverse that matches. Nice find.

Can't say what specifically caused it but something hard with some force behind it made a serious scrape across the face of the die.

It is believe to be caused by the ejection arm scraping across the die. These lines are most commonly seen on the cent, where they normally run from the northwest to the southeast. However, I think that I have seen pictures of or have run across this type die anomaly on all denominations.

I imagine that they could be worth something. Look at the speared Bison or the wounded Eagle; these coins have similar gouges although better placed and command exceptionally high and also unworthy premiums.
