1940 S Lincoln Woody Wheat Penny-Rim Error Obverse?

Assuming Coinfrog is correct, this is a pretty cool example of how a tapered planchet could happen. Since the "wood grain" is indicative of the direction in which the sheet was rolled and is just about parallel to the tapering direction, we can see that metal thickness changed along the sheet's length, but not across it. That backs up the idea that tapering occurs near the ends of the sheet.
Just my interpretation- perhaps some of our resident error experts can chime in.

Agree with Coop. All signs leading to a damaged coin that was squeezed a bit flat in that area. Seems out of round and the edge really tells a story with the warped look. The woody part is a win!
