I found this coin/medal among my late father's belonging. It is in a sealed bag. I'd like to know if anyone can assist me in finding out what it is exactly. I would like to learn more about this.

If anyone has any information on what this may be, I'd appreciate it!

to the CCF!

Modern medals can be a tough area since there are few catalogues. Hundreds if not thousands of medals, many privately, were issued in the US in that era.

I suggest doing an internet search with the words on the medal. You may be able to find out who issued it and the reason. I think that a coin club in Massachusetts might be a good place to ask, as well.

But wait to see what the CCF has to say.

is a good first place to start, because it is possible to narrow the search with matched images from your computer screen.

@jkr, first welcome to CCF. Second, I too am struggling to find a similar piece on the interwebs. Perhaps your best option is to talk with one of the old timers at the Sterling Massachusetts Historical Society. Here is a link to their website:

Added: If you do figure out anything more about this medal, please add that info to this thread. Thx!
