I'm not used to having a mint set let alone the history about them but I am wondering if this is supposed to look like this? I don't really get any half dollars so I unfortunately can't remember what it should look like.

Looks like a nice coin. What specific question(s) might you have about it?

It's a proof set coin. So, it will look different from the business strikes meant for circulation or put in "mint" sets of uncirculated coins.

Where did you get the "mint" set? Looks like a proof coin to me.

Here is the highest grade proof DCam listing:
PR-70 DCam
https://www.PCGS.com/cert/07714932
That grade is the highest, and only $70 for the value. Hardly worth getting a slab for it.?

PR-66 DCam
https://www.PCGS.com/cert/39048034
$6.00
Why spend big money to have a coin come back as a $6 price tag? Fees were probably close to $50.
Not worth the grading fees for this one.

This is a proof set that was given to me as a gift about a month ago. Since I have heard about so many errors on them I just was taking a closer look. I haven't tried to open it nor will I try in the future. I was just curious about the 86 of the date and BE of liberty on the obverse. Also if E Pluribus Unum was supposed to be that thick and bubbled.
