I had a local coin shop submit a coin for grading back in November. They stated it would take a few months due to them being behind. It was a 1909 s vdb. Everyone I call I'm told they don't have it back yet and that I need to be patient. Is it taking 5 months to grade a penny right now? I'm also irritates that when I call they take my name and number to have the owner call me, and then I never hear anything. Kind of irritated since this is the first time I've ever sent a coin graded and no one will tell me where I. The process it is. I'm told to just be patient. Today the guy told me there is no way to tell where in the process it is. Short question is how long is current turn around and is my anxiety just over reacting?

The delay might be valid. However, the owner ignoring you and not returning your calls is totally unacceptable.

You need to sit down with the owner and have a face-to-face heart-to-heart meeting with him.

I hope this has a happy ending!

Good luck and please keep us updated. Also, post pictures of your coin if you have any. (Our grading opinions here are pretty accurate and really cheap!)

PCGS is all over the place right now. I've had submissions turnaround in 10 days, others in 4 months. It's silly.

How often does the shop send submissions? Your coin may have sat for a long time before it was even sent in. But if it was sent in the shop should be able to look online and find where the submission is in the process.
