Hello, I'm new to the Coin World and I have a question that I can't seem to find an answer to on Google. I have a 1973 half dollar with makes on his neck. I know these marks are from the mint but not all had them from what I found. My question is, are these worth anything?

Thank you

Please post large, sharp photos of the coin's obverse and reverse. Thanks.

this is an awesome place to learn much; I know others will chime on also
That mark you might be seeing is the designer of the obverse, Gilroy Roberts, and that is his monogram. In the vast majority of the time, this area would not warrant any premium value. And of course, that 1973 is a common clad coin; you would have to find the ones before 1971 to get 40% silver, and before 1965 for 90% silver.

I wonder if this could have caused the marks?

If they look like this:

They are coin damage from contact with the reeds on the edge of the coin.

Behind the ear on the neck is a design that is seen on the fresher die examples:

Not the area SE of the ear area. Just remembered that when someone asked about the initials.

TT83, you have to try to post photo of the coin. Could be a good one or a frequently happened, who know?.

Do not be shame, it is the end of the week and here the folk like to joke, but never about the coin or the poster.

Welcome, you are in the wright place.
