Hello,

I'm new to the coin collecting community but quickly have fallen in love with the hobby. Ive been going for some date runs and of course love any unique errors.

I found this 2018 Voyagers Quarter and the lettering seemed off. I couldn't tell if this was truly doubling, partially worn die or simply a case of post mint damage...

Any and all help is appreciated!

After I compared this with other of the same design, it appears that it's just worn in a weird way.

I'm still going to set it aside for now so let me know if I'm mistaken!

Thanks all :)

That is Machine Doubling on incuse devices. This has happened on a test of 100 quarters, 70% of the time. The incuse devices have the opposite set or rules for raised devices. The DDRs on these single squeeze dies are in the center of the coins devices on both sides of the coins. Central areas.

Thanks Coop!

After I posted this I read a bit about Machine Doubling and figured that's what it was....but I love the confirmation!

Thanks for your help as always!
