Hi, is there any hope for cleaning up this 1935-S Peace? I assume it is scratched to death, and therefore details. I have not done anything to it yet, If I clean it up it may show more damage underneath. I will probably ebay it as is and hope for someone to love it. Thanks in advance.

It's gonna fall into the junk silver category - worth its weight in silver and no more (which still, you know, ain't bad).

the only thing it has going for it is that it isn't cleaned. Cleaning that thing would remove any non silver value left. What I would do is sand it down until it is P01 details and sell it as a low ball. But you do you

How about selling this for melt value and using the proceeds to buy a nicer looking Peace dollar?

Im planning to sell on ebay, as is.. I don't want to do anything that could make it worse (even though it seems unlikely, to be honest).. and then use the funds for something nicer. Ill let everyone know if it even gets melt. Ill call it an experiment

thanks for the advice, I didn't consider that, but mainly because I would never think a LCS would offer melt-5% on this.. this.. abomination.

You can probably get an MS65 grade if you send it to ACG or NNC.... :)

Actually, I think it has in fact been cleaned - heavily scoured in an attempt to remove the black deposits.

Jbuck hit it right on the money. Give it a long acetone soak to remove any organics from the coin and then pocket piece it for a year or so, then sell as a lowball candidate. Actually, what's not to love about a 35s Peace dollar?

That coin is toast - well beyond any chance of redemption. Sorry.

Just get rid of it at an LCS.
