Yours is not the Type-C. Here's my example:  Tail feathers are very strong and I believe the ES of STATES is also an identifiable factor. Keep hunting! -CH27

The type 'C' is the new reverse design for the 1965 quarters. So if you look at these, then you will see the difference between the 1964 normal reverses and the 1964-D type 'C' reverses:  Here is a side by side comparison:  Tail feathers are stronger.
