Is this the 1858/7 overdate? I don't see anything around the last 8, but it looks like it might have the correct die markers. I picked this up off ebay this week, and these are seller pics. I should have better photos after I receive it later this week.

Yep. Definitely going to need close ups of this coin.

Yes, please show us a sharp closeup of the date AND a sharp close-up of the area above the date up to the eagle's breast.

It could be the overdate. If it is, it would be considered "weak" or lds (late die state). There will still be a market for it, for a smaller premium than a bold or early die state example.

I do think there are also examples of the broken wing tip with no other characteristics or markers of the overdate.

Thanks. I will definitely post some photos of the relevant areas when it arrives.

@RedRaider, I agree there are examples of the broken wing tip without any trace of the overdate, but as far as I know, it's still diagnostic of the overdate die. It certainly would help to have the other markers.

Looking forward to better shots once you have it in hand. I agree the pick up points are there, could be a nice cherrypick depending on the price paid.

The coin arrived, and I do think it is the overdate, although I still can't see evidence of the 7 in hand. The die chip above the date is subtle, but I believe it's there. Here are some close up photos, and also the illustration of the die markers from PCGS.

Also, do you think this makes VF-20?

Any thoughts on the attribution or the grade, or should I re-post this in the grading forum?
