Well you are correct, it is Machine Doubling. But there is also another issue. It is a master doubled die example. The bad news that both are not a premium for the coin. Why? Because 50% of all the cents were master doubled that year from all three mints and even proofs. So it is as common as leaves falling off the trees in the fall. But what does MDD (Master Die Doubling) look like: The push upwards on the date area is MD. But at least now you know what it is.
