1890 25 Pesetas, Original? Restrike? Fake?

Aloysius New Member United States 1 Posts	Posted 03/31/2021 7:51 pm I picked this up at a local coin shop. After doing some research it appears the original run of this coin ended in 1881. I read they did some restikes in the 1960s of this coin but cannot find anything about an 1890 restrike. Does anyone know anything about this? Original 1890 coin? A restrike? When were restrikes produced? Metal content? FAKE? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Report this Post to the Staff

Numisma Pillar of the Community United States 4963 Posts	Posted 03/31/2021 10:35 pm Alfonso XII died in 1885 and his son, Alfonso XIII, reigned from 1886 to 1931. Mighty suspicious. Restrikes generally match a real coin, so I'd probably call it a fantasy piece. It may be gold, but I'm doubtful. Report this Post to the Staff
