Does anyone else see a "D" and "S" dropped over the 2 in 1942 on this Mercury dime?

No, I don't think I see it.

Anyways, why would there be one? Aren't the mint marks on the reverse ?

I see the "D" you are referring to,lower right on the 2 and maybe a "S" a little to the left of that but it's just circulation damage that resembles letters,IMHO.
