Found this one in a common bank roll today. I believe it is FS-102. I know there are a lot of pics but I tried to show all of the splits on the letters. I had an epic fail of sorts on the image uploads as some of them are bigger than life..... but hopefully you can see the details. Thanks.

When I see images on one device, they are usually minor doubled dies. Even on halves, I put 3-4 devices on liberty to show the doubled dies. Too minor is, seen better, but not as interesting to buyers of doubled dies. Look for the spread on the devices. Notching is important, but most of the devices on a desirable DDO / DDR has spread on the devices, then noting notches. Look for the spread on the centers of the devices.

Thanks coop for your reply. Granted these are probably the poorest pics I may have ever posted, I can see spread on the Y, GOD, and the U in TRUST and then I can see the notched serifs on the T, B, E in WE the I on IN and the U in TRUST. My pics should have been better, admittedly. Wexler's doesn't list a 71-D DDO but VV has several. I compared mine to zoomed in pics on PCGS Photograde to come up with the variety FS-102...wasn't sure. I was pretty excited thinking this was a "scare" variety as noted by PCGS. Mine has some PMD and wear for sure.

Not FS-102...your half dollar is a 50c ODV-003 (Strong R), SDO-001 (Series Doubled Obverse). you can see the doubling you show in your photos on all of the ODV-003's minted depending on die state.

Hello atrox001. Thank you for your reply. I am not very keen on halves but I am learning. For the most part, I have been a student of Lincolns. I was able to pull up on VV what an ODV-003 that exhibits a strong R looks like. Looks to be a perfect match with the R in LIBERTY and the I in IN on my coin from the VV pics. For some reason all of the online resources of SDO-001 (Series Doubled Obverse) are not available. I would like to learn more about this. Do you have a link that is currently available for this that gives information for Kennedy halves? Thank you.

Some of the information you are looking for can be found in the descriptions for half dollars in the CONECA Master Listings...the only problem is CONECA is revising the listings and don't have them up on there site yet. I get a lot of information from James Wiles book, "The Kennedy half dollar Book"...it is out of print but used ones can be found.
