The above Sov. looks counterfeit compared to this one.
In the tail, cape, wings of the dragon near the dragons mouth and a few other areas.

if what you are saying is true
But what is the purpose of making a fake one with too much details when it is a common sovereign

I tend to agree with GMS5. All the genuine 1925SA Soverign photos I have looked at show the Dragon's tongue touching the left wing.

@chronos , think you have another fake on your hands .
Agree that the details are not up to snuff .
Lebanon was a hotbed of counterfeit gold coins in the early 70s .
This was before it was legal to own bullion gold in the US again.
So what they did was fake old Sovs , USA , Canadian and
World collectors or special interest gold collector coins and
send them to the States ,
An interesting fact .. some of the counterfeit Sovs actually
Have slightly more gold in them than the original Royal Mint
Or Branch mint ones!

Discussion of the various sources of sovereigns reminds me of the Bank of Greece's rates to buy and sell sovereigns:

03 NEW SOVEREIGN (minted from 1974 onward) 345,52 ask; 412,79 bid
04 SOVEREIGN defective in appearance 335,14 ask; 404,10 bid

C. SOVEREIGN : UNDERWEIGHT or OF DIFFERENT FINENESS
05 UNDERWEIGHT SOVEREIGN OF FINENESS 0.9166 (7,900 - 7,939 GR) 329,82 372,75

A very late thank you. That bank of Greece page was gold. Very funny to see the diversity of fake sovereigns confirmed in that way. That they are so common in some parts of the world that they deserve all these entries in official prices.

But poor greeks! They are suffering a big ask-bid spread. Here the central bank gave up on gold operations and pricing with the public in 1998. Surprised that Greeces continues with that.

I also think the original coin shown here was genuine. A variation of the reverse die. Shorter dragon things are common in other years.
