i am not a collector of Canadian coins. here is a recent find in a roll of US cents. I was wondering if it has any "premium" value. I know nothing about Canadian coins, values, rarity, etc. all information is appreciated. thanks.

oh my gosh! would you be willing to sell that!? $800 sound reasonable!?

I'll look it up in my book. 1984 Penny... Mintage = 838,225,000. Nothing really special about this coin other than the composition its .980 copper, .005 tin and .015 zinc. When the Market Spot price is good in Copper, your Canadian Copper Bullion could be worth 4 cents or more! People used to complain about finding pennies in their change and literally throw it in the streets as garbage, now the old copper penny is worth more than today's multi ply steel coins, composition wise.

Welcome to the forum dbrablec. Hopefully you don't mind a little sarcasm, this place can usually be very helpful. I think what Coinage is saying is that it is worth about as much as a pre-1982 Lincoln Memorial cent in the same condition because of the copper content. Very little numismatic value.

thanks, actually - about what I expected. maybe I am having a bit less than a great day, and I DO recognize the sarcasm, but I really didn't think the questions was ridiculous enough to be made fun of. in any case I have been enjoying coin collecting for over 45 years. (never Canadian coins), and I do appreciate the opinions of others, with more knowledge, that are willing to share that knowledge.

I don't mean to disrespect you or your questions. I was just kidding around

I tried to throw in some facts about this particular Penny. I'm new to the Coin World and this coin forum.

Too bad you did'nt have a 1985 "pointed Five" penny, that's worth a little somthing.
