Hey Guys. Good and bad news today. My dad left one of my coin books outside the car somewhere... Won't be seeing those ever again. But the good news is, I already had half a roll of pennies in my pocket when I got the news. And in that roll, I got this. . It's got the other main markers too. I just can't get the photos.

Sorry but not seeing the large doubled die ear variety for this year. Looks like a plating issue especially in your first pic. The doubled ear for this year is unmistakable.

I would not discount the op's coin without better photos. There seems to be a hint of the doubled ear in the correct place. As far as the PCGS coins shown above are concerned, the brown specimen is actually the discovery coin and is the plate coin for Variety Vista, Coppercoins, and Wexler. The RedBrown specimen was actually posted in a thread here on the community http://goccf.com/t/339329&SearchTerms=1988,ddoIt appears lighting plays large part in how well the doubling shows in a photograph.

Something there does resemble the doubled ear. Maybe a better image will tell us more? -CH27
