Just looking to see if anyone has seen this kind of damage/error before.

Is it post mint error or during minting?

Was something in the die when pressed?

How does this effect the value of the coin?

It is on the reverse of 1913 S Type 1 Buffalo nickel

Suggest posting full photos of the coin--large and sharp--obverse and reverse, so that we can understand the full context of what we're looking at. Thanks.

Appears to be a lamination error

So after doing a little research and seeing lamination as a cause.

Would this be classified as Retained Lamination?

See picture for an example I found.

The full image size ones makes me think it is a sand cast coin. But why?
