Does anybody know who this minter was and about what time frame were these produced? I have what appears to be a die trial piece along with a final production piece.

I dont know why they come up sideways sorry.TYIA

@glug, that is an interesting piece. I see a similar one on the tokencatalog website, but without much more info other than it likely dates to the 1950s:

Aren't dies supposed to be backwards so the coin will read forwards (normal) when it is struck? Same goes for molds if metal was to be poured into it.

Thank you spense I might even have that Civil war store card / flud book to look up!

Rothery I dont think its a die just to see how they turn out before they start cranking them out. But I am no expert on this subject matter.

True, but this is not what @glug has there. That klippe of copper is a likely a test strike, such as could be used to adjust how much pressure the dies will place on planchets. Or maybe just to produce a cool souvenir...
