Thought this was an extraordinary find. I first collected stamps prior to any interest in coins. Here, one he as both. What's the pedigree of the Commemorative Metal. Has many minted? Purpose of it's being minted. And, on the reverse,"join or die," rather straight forward.

Pretty cool. As described, it is a 1972 American Revolution Bicentennial medal in a First Day Cover presentation. If memory serves, this is a brass medal.

Looks like they go for somewhere around $10 on ebay.

The corners look dinged on this one.

Thanks for sharing!

Have a look at my previous post about these philatelic-numismatic covers (PNCs) and let me know if you have any questions.

Also, here's a link to a post I made that references the silver versions of these ARBA medals:

I started collecting these at the close of last year. As for the mintage figures, I researched the Bicentennial Commissions records and they seem to be vague at best. Despite that, from indications found elsewhere, I wouldn't think more than 100,000 of any particular one. These were issued in 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975 and 1976 as "First Day Covers" and struck at the Philadelphia Mint. There are also Postal Service issues in the same format. Each year had a different design/stamp combo cancelled at a different different city each year. Great pieces of American history.

@Ballyhoo + Others with interest: Above, I provided links to posts in which I included lots of info about these medals and covers, including production figures/mintages. Check them out!
