Just like die cracks, die chips, die breaks and other event items, they are interesting to new collectors, but to a seasoned collector, there is no value there. People get excited about these, but after the event happens, the rest of the coin struck with that die will have that. Up to as many as 500K. The only die events that people do get a premium for are the end of life for the dies. Like rim Cuds and Die Cuds. Both are something that can't be fixed, but a retirement issue for the dies. People go gaga for having these die events slabbed, but the graders are the only ones making money on these. Here is an example of how the graders are making a lot of money: PR-70 Nickel. This happens when a small area of the die is damaged as it is used and a small pit is created when a piece falls out of the die. This happens quite often so the coin doesn't command a premium. Die chips can vary in size, location and multiple chips can occur on a single coin. As noted above, all of the coins struck with a chipped die will have the same anomaly. It may even get larger as more coins are struck. I do have some die chips that I've collected, but they aren't valuable. I collect die chip progressions of 4 or more coins from the same die, where the chip gets larger and larger. ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting?
