What I'm most interested in is the security thread called MOTION. As of right now, the only other two banknotes with this thread is the 1000 SEK and the 1000 MNP, both around $100 in face value.

They're going to use this on the new $100 (colored) next year and the new series of higher Korean Won banknotes.

Could you describe how this new security feature works, what is its difference from the ones used before, generally any information would be appreciated

Well, it's similar to the color-shifting ink that it changes according to perspective, but this is different because it's a moving image that moves against the tilted direction.
It's apparently very hard to copy, since the strip itself is a piece of semi-hard plastic, and not really a thin embedded strip.

They say that each strip has over 650k micro lenses

Oh... and Crane is the official supplier for US banknote paper since the 1800s, but the technology was developed by its Swedish subsidiary.
