Lovely group and great condition too. These American ones were unique in Fijian coins, as unlike Australia the Fijian coins were only half silver like those of New Zealand and the UK.

My own 1943S Fijian Florin (Old washed out shot)

They also did the Pennies and Halfpence and used brass for them as these Cupro nickel coins could not be minted during a nickel shortage for war needs.

The coins of Fiji are definitely still overlooked by many collectors. After Australia and New Zealand, Fiji has the most interesting and comprehensive coin issuing in the Pacific.

For the benefit of American collectors:
All of Arkie's coins were struck at the San Francisco Mint.
Silver wartime issue. All of SF issue struck in years 1942 or 1943 only.

Standard alloy for all of Fiji's sixpences, shillings and Florins is .500 fine .1818 oz. ASW, except those struck by the San Francisco Mint, which are .900 fine, .3273 oz. ASW.

Nice find. For some reason Fijian pre-dec coins fetch good money in OZ. I have a few non-silvers but baulk at the high bids from Oz collectors.

I see an "S" mint mark on the sixpence coins. Is there one on the others?

The mint mark is located under the outrigger on the shilling and under the shield on the florin.

And you can see a cloudy S between the hole and top of 1st N in Penny.

American minted pieces always had their mark. All the Fijian series were minted only at San Fran, some Australian 3d and 6d though was minted at Denver.

New Zealand coins did not have American minting and were supplied from London.
