That's exactly what everyone said about Morgan dollars 110 years ago.

So, all you need to do is hang on to your BU Presidentials for 110 years and you're set!

Yes, and 80 years later you could still get them BU for face value. Even today, the vast majority of them are valued only for their silver content.

110 years from now, the 'base metal value' of Presidential dollars could very well exceed their face value. I've been projecting that the cupro-nickel coins in the '1837' sizes (Dime, Quarter, Half, and Ike dollar) will approach face value in base metal content around the 2060's (possibly sooner, depending on inflation and metals prices).

The 26.5mm Dollar coins will of course take longer to get to that point, but even then "110 years from now" is the year 2119, and that's another 50 years (of inflation) past 2069.

In the year 2119, the great majority of Presidential dollars may in fact be valued primarily for their 88.5% copper content.
"History repeating itself", indeed!

There's plenty of copper wire/pipe thieves around even now, and the concept of 'copper bullion' is starting to catch on (hoarding of 1959-81 Cents, copper bullion bars, etc.). Big silver/gold rallies would only heighten interest in affordable bullion alternatives....
