I'm suspecting a chunk of die polish fell out of the memorial?

Yes I agree most likely a die clash, but you would need to look at an overlay to be sure. Maybe the front of Abe's neck?

Thanks for the help on this. Interestingly I found a topic posted in 2013 on a 68 D regarding these very bays 7 & 8. This must have been the result of a clash?

Greg. Is there any other area that you can see any evidence of a clash?
If it is a clash. Could it be a double clash? First hit showing in bay 8 second hit showing in bay 7?
What is this inside of circle?

Taking another look for clash evidence I flipped the image and it looks like the chin and maybe tie area? Doesn't line up exactly with the overlay though. Comparing to another 68 D it would seem it is a die clash. Maybe this is a before and after die polishing example?
