Hi
I was pondering the edge damage on this coin as it seemed odd that the edge damage actually protrudes like excess material rather than missing as in wear or badly scored etc.

It has 4 vertical and 4 smooth edge quadrants and onlt the one has the damage. The other 3 are perfect.

Just curious.

Maybe residue from an old mount? Someone may have turned this into a necklace pendant at some point.

Thanks Spense. As soon as I read that I thought it does look like solder or something and its in the right quadrant for looking upright if on a necklace.
