easy it is also: On Close AM the FG is far and in Wide AM the FG is close. Exact opposite.

Me either. But the dates on the RDV-005 are showing that range. RDV-004 1974-1985.

But that is the RDV-005 range. But the RDV-005 is the common one for 1988. RDV-006 dies were rushed into the 1988 year as the RDV-005 dies were not going to be able to finish out the year run. So they started with the RDV-006's early. (they were not supposed to be used until 1989) So the 1988 year has a year variety on the RDV-006. A far as I know of, none of the RDV-006's on the 1988 cents, shows die wear. So if you are looking at a FG that you can't tell for sure, they are RDV-005's. One way to tell though for sure is the 'AM' on America. These two devices are different sizes:
