I believe what you are seeing is part of the original design. Keep searching!

There are 4 false columns on the Memorial design. On the bay your looking at, it was polished off.

I've found both 94's DDR roll searching in the past. Can't find my photos but may be in archive's. None the less, if you add a light source from the coins east side a bit above level, it may show you some truth . But, it looks like some in 2nd bay also. Try moving light it
