I got this in my change other day at local cumberland farms. After inspection of it at home I see a etched circle in the middle of the monticello also some sort of something on the left side of the monticello. The steps seem to be off to. Can anyone give me any info about this.

@straight, first welcome to CCF. Second, an overall pic of the rev would help. The blob to the left might be a small interior die break or a large die chip--guess I'm not sure where the exact cut-off between them is. We sometimes call this a "hornet's nest" due to its location under the eaves. Interestingly, over time the die got more and more damaged and the size of this die chip grew accordingly.

. The etched circle is damage from a coin counting/wrapping/vending machine. The other is a die chip (I think).

I actually have the same nickel minus the coin roller damage. I kept it because it looked like a Hornets nest that was on the side of my house.

Just a die event, the die chip on the building. Since they started the single squeeze dies with the lower profiles, we see a lot more die chips. The OP's coin has coin wrapper damage.
