The orientation of the anomaly eliminates a clash. A ribbon clash would be in the field outside the E to the left pointing down to the left towards the 1 in the date. If there is a clash in field inside the E it would be hair, oriented down to the left as well.

its not a strike through. its not a clash. its and obverse with a reverse struck over it. there is some diaderm at the other end of the coin. I dont know if there is enough diaderm for Rob to be able to identify the obverse.

Im not sure I follow... how can a reverse be struck on top of an obverse yet it shows it behind the "E". Would it not be on top of the "E" if that were the case?

From what I can tell it looks like a minor clash or strike through IMO.

okiecoiner. I have found some of the reverse on the other side . so now I know it was a fully struck coin. now it has been re struck. okiecoiner I wonder if this coin may have been restruck by accident. could that possibly happen

JohnWayne007 the obverse and reverse was both fully struck. its almost like the coin flipped over. then got restruck see the coin is shifted some degrees. hope this helps

It is not any kind of a Reverse struck over an Obverse or Obv over Rev. It looks like a clash, as Dan states above, especially if there are other places where the underpunch shows through. Rocky, read up on what a clash actually is.

If the coin was fully struck on the obverse and reverse, then flipped over on its own and was struck again, it would show a lot more than minor little details like these, especially if it was not lined up correctly.

If the coin was fully struck and deliberately flipped over and re-struck (literally no point for this, or logical reason) than maybe you may see something similar to what you are trying to show. But again, I highly doubt someone would flip a perfectly struck coin, just to line it back up and re-strike it.

My guess, there was a minor clash between the dies, or even some sort of minor die damage. I also think that the Vicky large cents have been documented quite thoroughly and if this were to be something of any interest it probably would have been mentioned and documented already IMO. Not to say discovering new varieties on the vicky cents is not possible, but it's a pretty thin chance I would think.
