1968-S Proof Set Question - Coin Community Forum

jadejean New Member United States 3 Posts	Posted 04/28/2021 11:26 pm Hi Everyone! I'm a new member so thank you for having me. I am curious about a proof set that I have. The Lincoln Cent appears to have discoloration on his head/face. It appears as grey instead of copper. I know that sometimes coins can change color such as "toning'. Would that be what I have here? I tried to take the best photos I could. Its difficult with the plastic in the way. I tried both with and without my flash on. Thanks for your time. Report this Post to the Staff

As you'll often hear mentioned, those proof set cases are far from air tight, so they don't do a ton for preventing toning, hazing, etc. if not kept in a controlled climate and to the community! ijn1944 Bedrock of the Community United States 19122 Posts	Posted 04/29/2021 07:37 am Agree. The coin (the set?) has been exposed to environmental agents. Those darned cases are not air tight nor water proof. Some proof toning can be rather strong. Report this Post to the Staff
